Michael B. Young - 52, lifelong Scituate resident passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2018 at the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick after collapsing suddenly. He was the beloved son of Marjorie (Owen) Young of Scituate and the late Richard Young.

Devoted father of Tyler Jacobs Young and Connor Owen Young, both of Milton.

Loving brother of Elizabeth A. Howley and her husband Jeff of Millis and Brian D. Young and his partner Marie Petrowski of Quincy.

Uncle Mike to Carter and Brooke Howley. Former husband of Leslie Lutt of Rockland and former longtime companion of Lisa Howard of Hull.

Mike was a 1983 graduate of Scituate High School and veteran of the US Navy. He worked for most of his life as a plumber with O'Leary Plumbing in Scituate. He never took himself too seriously and was always quick to smile or engage others with his wit and sense of humor. These traits made him a popular guy and he will undoubtedly be missed by all who had the honor of calling him friend.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather together to celebrate Mike on Saturday, January 13, 2018 beginning with a visitation at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home from 10 AM to 1 PM and a gathering immediately following until 4 PM at the VFW Post 3169, 736 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate.

In honor of his many trips to and love for the island and people of St. John, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Red Cross, www.redcross.org/ noting the donation is to be made in his memory and directed to St. John Hurricane Relief.

Please leave a fond memory in the online guestbook or share your favorite photos with Mike's family.

Please check back within the week for an expanded obituary.
